Ballet Chesapeake's August Workshop is designed for the serious professional or pre-professional dance student at an intermediate to advanced level of training. The summer intensive will include daily ballet technique classes as well as modern, pointe, variations, and pas de deux classes with renowned guest professionals and Ballet Chesapeake faculty. The program is designed to help students continue technical and artistic progress over the summer so that they are ready to begin the school year dancing at their best.
Housing in Harford County, Maryland with Ballet Chesapeake families is available Monday-Thursday of each week for out-of-town students. Please contact the Ballet Chesapeake office for more information and registration details.
Female dancers will need to wear a solid color traditional style leotard (no halters, criss-cross straps, or keyholes), pink or skin tone convertible tights, pink or skin tone ballet slippers and/or pointe shoes.
Male dancers will need to wear a white leotard or form fitting t-shirt tucked into black convertible tights, and black ballet slippers or white ballet slippers with white socks.
We are thrilled to share an exciting development that marks a new chapter for our dance community. The Dance Conservatory of Maryland and Ballet Chesapeake (BC) are merging into one unified organization under the Ballet Chesapeake name.
This merger reflects our continued commitment to excellence in dance education and performance. By combining our resources, talents, and shared vision, we are creating a stronger, more vibrant organization that will better serve our dancers, families, and the greater community.
What does this mean for you?
Same location, same staff, same quality training: Your dancers will continue learning and growing in the supportive, professional environment you know and trust.
Stronger performance opportunities: Ballet Chesapeake’s nonprofit structure will expand access to high-caliber productions, outreach, and scholarship programs.
Unified identity: While DCM has been the home of our training programs and Ballet Chesapeake has represented our pre-professional company, moving forward, all programs will operate under the Ballet Chesapeake name to reflect our unified mission and vision.
We believe this transition honors the legacy of both organizations while positioning us for even greater impact in the years ahead. We’re deeply grateful for your continued support and enthusiasm — our families are at the heart of everything we do.
We’ll be sharing more details and hosting an information session soon to answer any questions and celebrate this exciting change together.
With gratitude and excitement,
Kait
